Learning
Jeffco Public Schools uses a Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) framework to organize and provide academic and social, emotional, and behavioral instruction and supports to ensure that every student receives what they need in order to be successful.
Learning at Long View High School
Long View provides a small and structured learning environment for students to feel Connected, Supported and Proud. Opportunities are provided to all students to engage in credit recovery, receive structured academic support and make progress toward graduation.
Long View utilizes a modified and condensed grading schedule to ensure academic success. Instead of taking six to eight classes every 18-week semester, we condense our classes and grading terms so that students take only three classes at a time for a nine-week grading term. Credit for classes is awarded every nine weeks (every quarter) and then students are enrolled in a new set of three classes.
With this model, Long View students can earn the same amount of Jeffco high school credit throughout the year as a neighborhood high school student while taking fewer classes at a time. This pacing provides students and teachers the opportunity to dive deeper into authentic learning in the classroom without having to juggle an overwhelming amount of content and coursework from other classes.
